Nybo Workwear’s ESG Strategy
At Nybo Workwear, we see it as our responsibility to create a measurable and positive impact on both the environment and society through our business operations. As a family-owned company, it is important for us to stand behind the way our products are manufactured – and to ensure that our customers, including public institutions, can trust our ESG efforts.
Values such as integrity, honesty, and accessibility have always been an integral part of Nybo Workwear and form the foundation of our approach to responsible business practices.
An active and structured approach to ESG
We work with ESG as an active and systematic effort, where responsibility is embedded throughout the entire value chain. Our work is based on clear requirements, continuous follow-up, and close dialogue with suppliers and business partners.
Nybo Workwear is Grüner Knopf certified, which constitutes a central framework for our work with environmental, social, and governance matters. The certification ensures that our ESG initiatives are based on internationally recognized standards, documentation, and due diligence processes – elements that are essential in public procurement and reporting.
Our ESG approach is based on five principles.
Responsibility across the entire value chain
We work purposefully with responsibility from production to finished product and set clear requirements for every stage of the value chain.
Support for suppliers and customers
We collaborate closely with our suppliers and share knowledge and solutions to ensure that responsible initiatives are implemented and embedded in practice. At the same time, we support our customers with relevant documentation and transparency.
The value of people is independent of geography
We place people at the center – regardless of where in the world production takes place – and actively work to promote decent working conditions, social justice, and respect for local rights.
High standards of responsibility
We operate according to ambitious environmental and social standards and use recognized certifications and systems as the foundation for our requirements and follow-up.
Leading by example
We aim to contribute positively to the industry by taking the lead and demonstrating how responsibility can be integrated into business operations in a structured and long-term manner.
Our ESG Programs
To ensure focus and progress, we have consolidated our efforts into three ESG programs.
1. CO₂ reduction across the entire value chain
The majority of our CO₂e emissions stem from activities within our value chain. Therefore, we focus on climate improvements where the impact is greatest. We work with the measurement, reduction, and documentation of CO₂e emissions and support our suppliers through calculations, solutions, and joint development initiatives.
In 2025, we will:
Be able to document a reduction in our total CO₂e emissions
Be able to document CO₂e footprints at product level to increase transparency for customers and public stakeholders
2. Social well-being and fair working conditions in the value chain
Long-term relationships are central to our work with social matters. Our average supplier partnership exceeds 14 years, providing a solid foundation for continuous improvements and ongoing dialogue.
We actively work with initiatives such as living wages, anonymous grievance mechanisms, working hours, training and education, and compliance with local legislation. Requirements and progress are documented through certifications, audits, and continuous follow-up.
In 2025, we will:
Be able to document that all suppliers are working purposefully towards achieving living wages
Be able to document that all suppliers have established and are using anonymous grievance mechanisms
3. Sustainable product development and circularity
We work systematically with eco-design to reduce the environmental impact of our products. This includes reducing unnecessary materials, optimizing design, and increasing the use of more sustainable fibers such as TENCEL™, REFIBRA™, and recycled polyester.
In addition, we actively participate in development and research projects focused on textile recycling and circular solutions.
In 2025, we will:
Increase the share of environmentally more responsible fibers in our products
Actively contribute to the development and testing of solutions for textile recycling
Our Way Forward
Our ESG efforts are built on concrete actions, documentation, and ongoing dialogue with suppliers, customers, and business partners. We view responsibility as a long-term commitment and continuously work to improve our initiatives.
We aim to be a transparent and responsible partner for public customers and to contribute positively to shared goals regarding sustainability, responsible resource use, and decent conditions in global value chains.
